There is a choice of sharply contrasting events along Madeira Drive on Sunday, 13 June. At the western end, Brighton & Hove Buses are celebrating 75 years on the road (see below). At the eastern end, the World Naked Bike Ride procession will end its collective cycle around the centre of the city at the Naturist Beach, where a picnic will be held.
Children's Parade on Saturday, 1 MayOnce again the Brighton Festival kicks off with the Children's Parade, which involves around 70 local schools, has about 4,000 participants, and as many as 10,000 people turn out to watch and support. This year's theme is The Planet. So expect to see all the climatic regions of the world - and much, much more - represented on the parade. The Children's Parade winds it way along the streets of the Old Town, and then along the seafront to Madeira Drive to its musical finale. Brighton Marathon - Sunday 18th AprilIt's here. Brighton's Marathon, the brainchild of of Tim Hutchings, will go live on Sunday with 10,000 plus runners setting off from Preston Park on a gruelling run around the city, finishing - where else? - on Madeira Drive. Visit the official Brighton Marathon website: here 75th Anniversary Celebration Calling all bus enthusiasts, Brighton & Hove Buses will be holding a 75th Anniversary Celebration and Rally along Madeira Drive on Sunday, 13 June. More than 50 buses, old and new, will be present on the day. And there will be lots of memorabilia and souvenirs to look at and to purchase. So there will be B&H shopping bags, pens, notepads, mugs, rulers, etc. for you to choose from. Come and get an insight into the past and future of bus travel around the city. No doubt the mastermind behind B&H's success will be there, Roger French, managing director. |
