The Brooks Brighton 10K Road Race starts and finishes in Madeira Drive and has about 3,500 entrants. It is the real thing: a fast, flat, accurately measured race along Brighton's seafront. Because it is a seafront race in November, strong cross winds can upset record-setting ambitions.
The route of the race takes the ruuners east along Madeira Drive for 1.5K, and then back west along the Drive, then past the two piers and on as far as the King Alfred Leisure Centre, where the runners turn again and head back to Drive to the finish line.
Runners wear a timing chip in order to accurately measure their race time.
