Brighton's 3rd World Naked Bike Ride was a very friendly and successful event with 400 plus cyclists taking part.

The photographs in the gallery were taken at the starting point (The Level) and end point (Naturist Beach). In between the cyclists rode their bikes en masse throughout the centre of the city. The route passed a number of local attractions such as the Royal Pavilion - the route is shown here.
The aim of the World Naked Bike Ride, which is replicated all over the world, is to protest against our oil-dependent culture, and to promote zero-carbon cycling, while emphasising by going naked that cyclists are very vulnerable on our roads, which are clogged with heavy steel boxes, moving at speed.
The 'dress code' for the event is 'as bare as you dare'. Since 2007 it has been clarified that participants are legally able to ride completely naked, though many choose not to.
At around 400 participants the event was roughly twice the size of last year, and already the 2009 event has been agreed in principle by the organisers.
This one will grow and grow.
