Round Britain Bike Run

E-mail Print PDF
On Sunday, 29th June, biker, Sally Ann, set off from the Madeira Cafe on Madeira Drive on a round Britain coastal trip of about 3,500 miles to raise money for Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre. The centre provides neurology and neurosurgery for the 1.4 million people of Sussex and the surrounding area.

Six years ago Sally, who runs a restaurant in Hurst Green, suffered a major brain haemorrhage. Six hours of surgery at Hurstwood Park saved her life.

Sally will be accompanied by expert motorcyclists, Richard Falder and Tom Davis, on different parts of her journey. She hopes to raise £5,000. She is riding a Honda CBF600.

A good crowd of more than 100 bikers, family and friends turned out to give her a send off and an escort out of Brighton. (The escort even included a Ford Popular!)

Tom Davis said that they would be travelling mostly on B roads. They wanted to stay as close to the coast as possible, but that satnav technology has a tendency to route you inland away from the coast. So they would also be doing traditional map reading and hoping not to go down too many dead ends.

Update: Sally, Tom and Richard successfully completed their round-Britian trip, travelling almost 4,000 miles!
